Oct 18 – 24 – Seasonality made a brief appearance last week, as load-to-truck ratios continued their downward trend. Load posts are now down 15% m/m, tracking almost identically to 2017 and 2020, both years which saw capacity tighten rapidly albeit for very different reasons. Following two major category hurricanes in Sept ’17, the freight market began a bull run that was one of the longest since the 2009-10 period when the U.S. economy recovered from a recession — that was until the pandemic re-wrote the history books last year.
