Portland, OR – DAT, the world’s leading spot freight marketplace and information provider reached out to its network of trucking companies and transportation brokers to assist Wreaths Across America. On December 14, more than 500,000 wreaths were placed at 900 cemeteries and other locations across the country to honor veterans and fallen soldiers.
DAT posted the loads and helped coordinate the transportation of wreaths from Columbia Falls, Maine, to several distribution centers in the Midwest, and from those centers to the Western U.S. by posting major shipments on DAT Load Boards. The response was immediate and efficient, with more than 100 motor carriers across the country stepping forward to deliver the wreaths. The incredible generosity of the trucking community was further demonstrated by several DAT customers volunteering to pick up the costs of the freight bill for thousands of wreaths.
“Our service men and women have sacrificed so much. Participating in this great cause is our way of honoring them at this special time of year,” said Don Thornton, DAT senior vice president of sales, who helped coordinate and promote the campaign.
