PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Freight availability in February more than tripled on the North American spot market, compared to February 2009, with a 215 percent increase according to the TransCore Freight Index. This marked the fifth consecutive month of improvement on a year-over-year basis and indicated unusually strong seasonal volume.
February, normally a weak month for spot freight, was within 5 percent of the record levels reached in 2004.
The TransCore North American Freight Index measures truckload freight volume found on load boards powered by the DAT Network, including 3sixty Freight Match, TruckersEdge.net and LinkLogistics, the company’s Canadian subsidiary.
Brokers, 3PLs, carriers, and owner-operators in North America list more than 50 million loads and trucks per year across a variety of services feeding TransCore’s DAT® Network. As a result of this high volume, TransCore’s North American Freight Index is representative of the ups and downs in spot market freight availability throughout the U.S. and Canada.
The DAT Network sets the standard for load board services in the North America by providing:
- The most loads and trucks found on any load board on the internet or in truck stops
- The highest number of exclusive loads found on a single load board
- The best quality brokers in the industry with the highest credit scores and lowest-days-to-pay
