Passwords are your first line of defense against cyberattacks. According to recent data, around 80% of data breaches are attributed to weak or reused passwords, and approximately 30% of internet users have experienced a data breach due to weak passwords. Remember these tips when you create your passwords.

  • Use strong passwords: Choose a password that combines upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols, and is at least 12 characters long. Avoid using common phrases such as “Password123.”
  • Don’t reuse passwords: Although reusing passwords might be convenient, you want to avoid doing it. Reusing passwords creates a danger in security, a breach in one account can lead to a domino effect, compromising all accounts.
  • Try a password manager: These tools help you create and securely store passwords, so you don’t need to remember them all.

Start the year by strengthening your digital defense. Updating your passwords takes just a few minutes and can protect you from many online threats. Avoid password reuse and use a trusted password manager to make it easier to generate and remember passwords.
