Why Company Reviews Matter to Your Reputation

< Back to posts

In the digital world, it is all about what potential customers can find out about your operation before they make a decision to work with you.

So what can you do to make sure you are putting your best foot forward with DAT Company Reviews?

Just keep these two steps in mind: request reviews and reciprocate.

One great example of how a DAT customer is using the tool is freight broker Gayle Pierce, owner of Cross Country Freight Service in Liberty, Indiana. She has been requesting reviews by adding a note at the bottom of her rate confirmation sheets to carriers: “If you like our company, please post a review on the new DAT review board.” She checks her company’s profile often to see what carriers are saying about her company.

Gayle has reciprocated by rewarding the carriers she works with who provide great service. For every new carrier who does a good job for her, she posts a review of them. “Early on, I decided to post positive reviews,” she says. “I follow the advice from Bambi’s mom: If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.”

On the other hand, she’s not one to jump the gun when it comes to posting a negative review, which she views more as a last resort. “Anyone can make a mistake,” she says. “Trucking is not a perfect science, and things happen.

How to write or request a review

To help build your reputation as a carrier, send a request to brokers and shippers asking them to review you. (Note: to avoid conflicts of interest, carriers can only review brokers and shippers, and brokers can only review carriers and shippers.) And if you write a review now, for a limited time, we’ll give you a free Starbucks card.

Here’s how to write or request a review:

  • Go to DAT.com/directory (You can also get to the DAT Directory from within your product pages.)
  • Log in with your normal name and password
  • Click the Search DAT Directory tab at the top of the page
  • Click “I want to… Write a review”
  • Search for and open the company’s profile
  • Click “Write a Review” or “Request a Review” (See below)
