TransCore brings insurance monitoring in-house

< Back to posts

TransCore opened its CarrierWatch® Insurance Monitoring Center to help truckload freight brokers, 3PLs and shippers to add new carriers quickly and safely, and to monitor the carriers they use regularly. The Center works with insurance firms to investigate certificate of insurance data regarding auto (truck) liability, cargo, general liability, workers compensation and other coverage types. Separately, the Center will provide resources to help freight intermediaries and carriers navigate increasingly complex insurance requirements.

CarrierWatch, the leading carrier qualification and insurance certificate service, is used by top freight brokers and 3PLs to monitor their carrier base and validate new carriers. Because of this broad industry acceptance, CarrierWatch and its insurance monitoring service have become an increasingly important part of our product line-up. The insurance monitoring feature of CarrierWatch was previously administered for us by an outside vendor. TransCore chose to bring this function in-house so we would have more freedom to provide innovative services that support our customers’ business goals, and to maintain the highest level of customer service. In fact, CarrierWatch Insurance Monitoring Center is part of the company’s award-winning customer service organization.

From a business perspective, outsourcing a critical function can be a challenge for any company. Given the importance of carrier validation to our broker and shipper customers, we wanted to exercise tighter control over this key component of our product and its future enhancements, without having to consider a third-party vendor’s priorities. Since launching the Insurance Center, we have already seen a measurable improvement in compliance. Moving forward, we expect to announce new products and services in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, the Insurance Center is already up and running, to provide service to TransCore customers who use CarrierWatch or our 3sixty® Power full-service load board. Services include:

  • Access to carriers’ insurance certificates at the request of CarrierWatch subscribers. (Carriers do not have to be participants in TransCore’s DAT® Network of load boards in order to be monitored by CarrierWatch.)
  • Monitoring carriers’ DOT authority and CSA scores. TransCore maintains a database housing millions of carrier records, which helps our broker and shipper customers to verify carriers’ identities and protect against “chameleon” carriers and others who engage in fraudulent business practices.

We hope to continue serving you with innovative products and technologies that make your company more efficient and profitable. Thank you for your business!
